FabTrol MRP Version 3.3 released
FabTrol MRP introduces round-trip integration with shaped-plate nesting
software
EUGENE, OR - With its recent release of FabTrol MRP Version 3.3, FabTrol
Systems' integrated fabrication management software now provides steel
fabricators with roundtrip electronic communication between FabTrol MRP and
external plate nesting software, such as
ProNest and
SigmaNEST. This allows the fabricator to manage parts, stock, purchasing
and production in FabTrol MRP while leveraging the shaped nesting capability
of plate nesting software.
Export a parts-to-cut list
The plate nesting export bundles parts to cut, associated CNC data, and
available stock to third-party plate nesting software, allowing fabricators
who use FabTrol MRP to:
- Quickly and accurately communicate a list of parts and part quantities
to cut to their third-party nesting engine.
- Track which parts are exported or cut.
- Include associated CNC data in the export so that shaped parts
(gussets, stiffeners, flanges, etc.) can be nested accurately.
- Associate plate parts with stock plate to establish and maintain full
traceability.
To facilitate coordination with the production plan, stock and parts can
be filtered (e.g., by material type, sequence, production batch, etc.)
before export. FabTrol MRP keeps track of what has or has not been exported,
making it easy to track parts remaining to be cut.
Import a nesting solution
When a nesting solution is returned to FabTrol MRP from the plate nesting
software, the fabricator can:
- Look over a quick view of the solution that shows nested parts,
quantities and sizes, and un-nested parts.
- Approve the solution and immediately fill a purchase order with needed
material.
- Track receipt of materials and indicate when material for a given nest
is available.
To facilitate coordination with purchasing and production plans as
nesting solutions are imported:
- FabTrol MRP tracks what is left to nest, providing a report of part
marks grouped by size, length, thickness and grade.
- The user can easily review nesting and cut list status by sequence,
lot and batch.
Full material traceability
Full material traceability is maintained for all solutions generated
during the plate nesting inquiry, including:
- Parts cut from stock plate included in the initial export to the plate
nesting software.
- Parts cut from material placed on a purchase order filled from a Plate
Manager buy list.
Fabricators can easily track and review material status and details,
including whether the material is in stock; has been purchased or not and if
so, on which purchase order; the vendor and cost associated with the
purchased material; and whether or not the material has been received.
Material traceability data is carried forward as cuts are confirmed in
FabTrol MRP’s production system, whether through automatic communication
with a CNC controller, through bar code transactions, or through manual
updating from the marked-up cut list. Planned plates can be easily swapped,
when necessary, for those actually used in the shop.
The recently added plate nesting capability builds on FabTrol MRP’s ability
to work seamlessly with partners in the steel fabrication supply chain. Now,
with the Plate Manager module’s roundtrip communication with plate nesting
software and full integration with FabTrol MRP’s purchasing and stock
systems, fabricators can manage all their plate purchasing, tracking and
fabrication needs through FabTrol MRP. Fabricators will appreciate the
seamless project management and material traceability provided, as well as
the increased speed and accuracy of the data exchange between FabTrol MRP
and their plate nesting software.
